NEGREDO SIGNS

Sevilla striker Alvaro Negredo has been one of the main rivals Manchester City this summer. He is one of the four players signed by the club for a total cost of close to £ 100 million. As a result of the Spaniard’s presence in the team, City now have four major strikers in the squad. This will certainly be beneficial to manager Manuel Pellegrini, who is in his first managerial job in England. In fact, this is the first managerial job outside of Spain when it comes to European football. The Chilean manager has so far managed only South American and Spanish clubs.

Despite this, Negredo believes that Pellegrini has all the necessary qualities to become a successful manager in England. He considers himself to be an English style player rather than a Spaniard because he is more direct. He has also praised the flair and attacking style of football adopted by the Chilean manager. This unique mixture will help him succeed in English football. The 27-year-old was not the primary transfer target for City. They turned their attention towards him after their failure to get Napoli striker Edinson Cavani, who ultimately left for PSG in a £ 55 million deal.

Negredo will be competing against Sergio Aguero, Dzeko, and Jovetic for a starting spot.

“Every club he has left has been very happy with what he achieved. The way the fans at those clubs all loved him shows what he is like. He plays attacking, risk-taking football with a lot of possession. All fans like that kind of football, so I am sure City fans will take to his team. I am happy to be called an English-style centre forward. I like that type, the tall, strong player who is good in the air, and I like being seen as that kind of player,” said Negredo.
