NEGREDO SIGNS

Sevilla striker Alvaro Negredo has been one of the main rivals Manchester City this summer. He is one of the four players signed by the club for a total cost of close to £ 100 million. As a result of the Spaniard’s presence in the team, City now have four major strikers in the squad. This will certainly be beneficial to manager Manuel Pellegrini, who is in his first managerial job in England. In fact, this is the first managerial job outside of Spain when it comes to European football. The Chilean manager has so far managed only South American and Spanish clubs.

Despite this, Negredo believes that Pellegrini has all the necessary qualities to become a successful manager in England. He considers himself to be an English style player rather than a Spaniard because he is more direct. He has also praised the flair and attacking style of football adopted by the Chilean manager. This unique mixture will help him succeed in English football. The 27-year-old was not the primary transfer target for City. They turned their attention towards him after their failure to get Napoli striker Edinson Cavani, who ultimately left for PSG in a £ 55 million deal.

Negredo will be competing against Sergio Aguero, Dzeko, and Jovetic for a starting spot.

“Every club he has left has been very happy with what he achieved. The way the fans at those clubs all loved him shows what he is like. He plays attacking, risk-taking football with a lot of possession. All fans like that kind of football, so I am sure City fans will take to his team. I am happy to be called an English-style centre forward. I like that type, the tall, strong player who is good in the air, and I like being seen as that kind of player,” said Negredo.

TEVEZ MOVES ON

After completing his move from Manchester City, Argentine striker Carlos Tevez brought an end to his seven-year stay in England. During this time, he played for the likes of Manchester United, West Ham, and Manchester City. However, his final few years in England were marked by the troubles with him and the club. He came extremely close to leaving City during the January 2012 transfer window itself. However, he stayed for one more season and helped City finish as the runners up in the Premier league.

The club recently sacked manager Roberto Mancini and appointed Manuel Pellegrini in his place. It was rumoured that this change in management may persuade Carlos Tevez to remain at the Etihad stadium, but the striker recently completed a £ 10 million move to Juventus. After being unveiled as a Juventus player, Tevez said that the club decided to sell him after he made it clear once more that he would like to leave. The striker has signed a three-year contract with the Italian champions, who have won the league twice in a row.

Following this acquisition, it is believed that Juventus will now be focusing on the Champions League. Tevez has also said that he is extremely happy and proud to be representing a club like Juventus.

“I thank Juventus for the effort they have done to bring me here. And I thank Manchester City for the beautiful years they gave me. I talked to Pellegrini, telling him that I wanted to go away from Manchester City because I considered my cycle ended there. The number 10 shirt is an important responsibility because it was a number of great champions of the past, the last one was (Alessandro) Del Piero. For me it is an honour to wear his own shirt,” said Tevez after his unveiling.
